The International Forum on Solid Waste since its first edition is a reference in Brazil on the sustainable use of natural resources. The sustainability initiatives are a practical inherent in the planning of this event, which is held 100% of recycled and/or reusable materials, from its installation to the graphic material that is used for outreach and on-site event, as described below.

PET POST-CONSUMER FABRIC MATERIALS, DEVELOPED FROM RECYCLED PET BOTTLES:

MESH PET – 160g/m2 - each m2 recycles 04 PET bottles
ECO SUMMER PET – 150g/m2 - each m2 recycles 04 PET bottles
ECO PET SUPER – 160g/m2 - each m2 recycles 04 PET bottles
CANVAS PET – 220g/m2 - each m2 recycles 06 PET bottles

Taking into account the layout and the specific uses for each piece of visual communication of the event is used the most appropriate fabric.

The selection of this substrate was due to the involved recycling concept, generating economic returns, both in the purchase of inputs for their production and income generation from its new marketing, social return through community involvement in the sorting of waste (no human exploration) and avoiding environmental impact, with the removal and reprocessing of waste from the environmental.

PRINTING WITH ECO-ORIENTED PROCESSES:

PRINTING WITH UV CURABLE INKS: it uses ultraviolet radiation emission source to accelerate the curing of pigments dispersed on the substrate from specific printers. In this process, the absence of VOC's (Volatile Organic Compounds) during the process of running post-curing environmentally qualifies the immediate surroundings.

SUBLIMATION PRINTING WITH WATER-BASED INKS: this is a second printing system option, where the standards to be reproduced are deposited on a sheet of paper with water-based inks, subsequently, a direct contact and with the heat source employed, these are transfered to the fabric substrate, using the physical phenomenon of sublimation (passage of a substance from solid to vapor without acquiring the liquid state). The curing occurs immediately after the cooling of the tissue. This process also generates no emission of VOCs after manufacture, avoiding environmental contamination.

PRINTING WITH LATEX-BASED INK: this third option uses latex-based inks, low levels of VOCs, to produce prints that come out immediately cured your printer output by sources heat embedded in the equipment itself, odorless, with vibrant colors and allowing the workability of printed material soon after they become available.

MATERIALS THAT USE THESE PROCESSES:

  • Self-supporting banners;
  • backdrop;
  • ambiance.

In addition to the above criteria, we list other environmentally and socially oriented initiatives:

  • the use of disposable is not allowed in coffee and water services;
  • the graphical material is printed on recycled paper and the printing company must have an environmental management system implemented;
  • the bags are made by community of low income of seamstresses supported by the Bank of clothing of the Gaucho Social Banks Foundation, using the environmental liability of banners from the sponsors and/or partners;
  • are distributed durable retractable mugs or cups for water consumption, which is available in returnable gallons;
  • it's made the compensation of carbon emitted due to the realization of events.
